Chiltern Groomers do everything we can to help customers remember their appointments (if you opt in for this when registering), including booking confirmation/reminder emails, deposit reminder emails and reminder SMS/emails 72 hours before your appointment, however it is the customers responsibility to remember the appointment and give 48 hours notice if appointments need to be changed/cancelled to avoid loosing the deposit.
DROPPING OFF YOUR DOG
Please keep your dog on a lead at all times in the salon. A typical appointment lasts around 2 hours, although at busy times this can increase so please ensure you have opportunity to pick up your dog when contacted and that the dog has had adequate toilet breaks to last the appointment time. Please arrive at your allocated time, if you are very early we will be unable to take you dog in until the scheduled appointment time. If you are more than 10 mins late for the scheduled appointment, you may be turned away and the desposit forfeited or a reduced service offered for the same price as a full groom.
COLLECTING YOUR DOG
We will contact you by text/call to let you know your dog is ready to collect. Please only return once you hear from us as returning before this may interrupt your dogs groom and cause disruption to the day. Dogs seeing/hearing owners arrive can cause an excitable dog around sharp equipment and a groomer thrown off their time schedule, leaving your pet with an uneven finish, missed sections or god forbid an injury. A late pickup may be subject to an extra charge as we are unable to offer a day care service for your pet. A 30 minute grace period is given once we have contacted you to collect your dog, then an extra charge of £10 per 30 minutes late will be added for any subsequent lateness.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN OUR SERVICES?
Full details of what's included in each service we offer can be found on our website www.chilterngroomers.co.uk. Services can be tailored to suit your needs, so please let us know if you would like to add/remove something from the service.
We strive to use the best products and equipment available. Chiltern Groomers cannot be held responsible for any reactions the dog may have to any of our shampoos, styling products and/or colognes.
PRICING
We do endeavor to keep prices stable for returning customers however we do review costing on a regular basis to stay in line with the current market and it also does depend on condition of coat, length of time it's been between the dogs grooms, behavior of dogs and style required. Very matted dogs will incur an additional charge of £10-£20 dependent on level of matting.
FLEAS
The customer confirms that the dog is regularly treated with the appropriate flea treatments. Should the dog harbour fleas, the groomer will clear them at the customers expense. Standard charge for clearing fleas and de-fleaing the salon afterwards is £20 per dog.
DOGS HEALTH & WELLBEING
When booking an appointment, it is assumed your dog is fit and healthy to be groomed. Chiltern Groomers will not be held responsible for any irritations, abrasions, patches of hair loss due to pre-existing conditions or as a result of the process of grooming, thinning, hand stripping, de-matting, clipping or any other mishap caused by non-disclosure of the dogs medical conditions or behavioural issues. If the dog attempts to bite, a muzzle may be used or at the discretion of the groomer the appointment may be stopped to keep both parties from injury or harm. The owner is responsible for covering any costs for work done up to this point. The customer understands that the grooming of dogs comes with its own risks. The nature of grooming dogs including using sharp blades and scissors can be hazardous and whilst every care has been taken to safeguard the pet, accidents are rare but can happen. If the dogs health causes concern, the groomer may cease grooming and/or arrange a veterinary appointment at customers expense. Any cost for grooming will be paid for by the owner up until this point. We cannot accept pregnant dogs for appointments and it is also advisable to wait for a female dog to finish her season before booking.
DRYING CABINET
At Chiltern Groomers, we do not use crates for holding dogs. We do have various methods of drying your dog for their groom including a drying cabinet where the dog is placed inside and warm air circulates to dry them. Most dogs love this and happily accept it, however no dog is ever forced to be dried this way. Dogs are NEVER left unattended in the drying cabinets and are only placed in the cabinet for 10 minutes at a time. Please note this method of drying is not suitable for brachycephalic dogs with flat/short faces e.g. pugs, bulldogs, Shih-Tzu's etc.
MATTED POLICY
It is the owners duty of care towards their pet to maintain their coats between professional grooming appointments. Chiltern Groomers will not de-matt your dogs coat as this causes necessary pain and suffering for your pet. When a dog is presented to us in a severely matted condition, it is our policy to clip the whole coat off with the electric clippers. If you choose to seek a second opinion on the condition of the dogs coat, the cost of the booked appointment will still need to be covered in full. How short the coat will be depends on how tightly the coat is matted to the skin.
Whilst every care is taken to ensure safe removal of the dogs matted coat, some skin irritation/abrasions may occur. The owners of the dog(s) are responsible for the after care once the coat has been removed. Some dogs can be itchy/irritated after their coat is removed and care must be taken that they do not cause self inflicted injuries through itching, scratching, biting at themselves, shaking their heads excessively causing ear hematomas to form on the ends of their ears. When the weather is particularly cold, the dog may require a coat when outside to keep warm. When the weather is sunny, the dog may be affected by sunburn if the skin is particularly visible so care must be taken to avoid sunburn until the coat has grown back sufficiently to offer the dog natural cover from the suns rays.
Chiltern Groomers will not be held responsible for any wounds, abrasions, hot spots, skin conditions or bacterial/fungal infections found when the coat is removed as a result of the matting. Any veterinary cost associated with this will be covered by the owner.
Chiltern Groomers will not be held responsible for any skin irritation, cuts, abrasions, loss of hair regrowth, hyper-pigmentation of the skin, bald patches or changes in the dogs behaviour as a result of removing the coat or for any self inflicted injuries the dog may incur after the grooming process. Any veterinary attention the dog may require after the grooming appointment, is to be covered by the owner.
We will be happy to discuss grooming care and maintenance to avoid the dog becoming matted and requiring a complete clip off in the future.
There will be an extra fee of £10 -£20 to pay on top of the normal grooming costs to remove the matted coat. If any fleas are found once the coat is removed, these will need to be treated in the salon at the owners expense.
Regardless of who drops the dog off for the scheduled appointment, they act on behalf of the owner and give Chiltern Groomers permission to groom the dog as per our Matted Policy.
